Did Star Cruises deceive Md. Badron Bin Ismail Director of the Malaysian

“Safety Navigation Division & Peninsular Malaysian Marine Department”?

The letter below has the answer to that question!

We all know that SS Norway, ex France (Blue Lady) was sold on 28 December 2005 to a Bangladeshi breaker and that she departed Port Klang on January 6, 2006. However due to the asbestos controversy the ship was returned to Star Cruises and laid up at Port Klang, and departed again on May 5, 2006. Md. Bin Ismail’s letter (dated May 19, 2006) clearly states that Star Cruises had told the Director General of the Peninsular Malaysian Marine Department, that the “ship was going to Dubai for repair works.” What? five months after having been sold for scrap to the Bangladeshi’s, had Star Cruises suddenly have a change of heart and decided to repair her? Believe me, there was no heart change by Star Cruises, for we all know that the Blue Lady had already been sold to Bridgend Shipping - Haryana Steel (ship-breakers), and she was later resold to Priya Blue.

Officially Star Cruises have stated that the sale of the SS Norway netted them $14.1 million. For interest, the breakers have been trying to sell her for up to 24 million.

According to Md. Badron Bin Ismail’s letter, it is obvious that Star Cruises may not have exactly provided full details why the Blue Lady departed Port Klang! It does not take a brain to work out the truth! Does this mean, according international law, she should be returned to Star Cruises in Malaysia should the court decide against the breakers? Would that not be a good slap in the face for them!
