Orient Line

RMS Orion

The Trooper

This is Orion Oracle No 29 provided by Mr. Ron Abbott who lives in Boston UK, whose father, Jack Abbot, sailed home on the Orion at the end of the way from India. Mr. Abbot provided us with two Oracles, and they are indeed “Priceless.”

This Orion Oracle was written by Captain Charles Fox C.B.E., Master of RMS Orion, and Lieutenant-Col C.A.R. McRae., Officer Commanding Troops. This final Oracle was printed on superior paper and was meant to be a special souvenir edition.

Read the Jack Abbot story on the Orion Oracle No 20 page.

Special request; should anyone have a photograph of the Orion during the days she was as a trooper, I would much appreciate a copy.

Survey on Immigrant Ships

and their Passengers to Australia

Phillip Massaad, a long time supporter of ssMaritime, has requested that I place a special survey online to assist him with his thesis on Immigrant Ships and their passengers. Your assistance will provide him with a good source of information. Thus, If you migrated to Australia and came by ship, you may consider completing this special survey. When completed email it to Phillip at nma32832@bigpond.net.au

Your support is appreciated!
